RF Engines Wins Embedded System Innovation of the Year in the Elektra 06 European Electronic Awards
Newport, UK -- 24 November 2006 - RF Engines Limited (RFEL), the supplier of high performance FPGA-based designs solutions, has won the ‘Embedded System Innovation of the Year’ category in the 2006 ‘Elektra’ European Electronic Awards.

This year’s award was for ‘ChannelCore64‘, which allows designers to replace up to 16 specialist DDC ASIC devices with a single IP core embedded in an FPGA.

RFEL have previously won the ‘Start up of the Year’ award at the European Awards in 2003, and were also finalists in the ‘Research and Development’ award category in 2005.

John Summers, RFEL’s CEO, said: “It is a great testament to our team of engineers that the company’s products keep winning awards for innovation. A major part of our success has been the ability to draw on highly talented electronics engineers here on the Isle of Wight, which then, of course, draws in further talent. We’re all obviously delighted with the recognition, and the way that the business is continuing to flourish, providing specialised FPGA IP and complete products and systems.?

Richard Wilson, Editor of Electronics Weekly, who was one of the judges, commented: “In the field of digital radio receiver design, the winning company has demonstrated that its FPGA-based, multi-channel technology can deliver true cost and power consumption gains.?
