About Us

Our Mission: System-Level Design(SLD) was created by chip architects, engineers and journalists to help simplify the increasingly complex task of designing and developing new semiconductors.SLDconsists of a monthly newsletter, weekly supplements, videos, research results and roundtable discussions, and a portal that serves as a forum for exchanging ideas and answering questions about deep technology issues.
All stories are professionally written or edited by independent journalists and engineers with deep industry knowledge and experience.

Editorial Staff

blogger Pete Singer, Editor-in-Chief of Solid State Technology (SST) and Chip Design psinger@extensionmedia.com He oversees editorial operations of both and is also conference chair of Extension Media’s leading networking and conference, The ConFab, an exclusive annual event for semiconductor manufacturing and design executives. Pete has been covering the semiconductor industry for more than 30 years and has written over 160 articles on all aspects of semiconductor manufacturing, design, test and packaging. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.

Caroline Hayes, Contributing Editor chayes@extensionmedia.com Caroline Hayes has been writing about the electronics industry for over 20 years, covering European, US and Asia technology and news. Formerly editor in chief, EPN Reed France, she has also held the position of editor Electronic Product Design, IML Group. Previously she edited and reported for various electronics titles, with a particular focus on the semiconductor industry.

Hamilton Carter, Contributing Editor hcarter@extensionmedia.com Hamilton Carter formerly worked as an engineer at Toshiba and Cadence Design Systems. Hamilton graduated from Ohio State University.


Gabe Gabe Moretti, Contributing Editor Gabe Moretti has been in EDA for 45 years. First as an individual contributor with TRW Systems and Compucorp. Then as a manager with Intel and Signetics. He has been a member of the executive management team with EIS Modeling (a company he founded), HDL Systems, and Intergraph/Veribest. From 2000 to 2005 he was technical editor for EDA at EDN. Since then Gabe has run his own consulting company, GABEonEDA. He has a B.A. in Business Administration and a Master in Computer Sciences.
