Mentor Files Complaint Against Eve
Mentor Graphics filed an import suspension complaint against Eve, claiming Eve’s emulation products infringe on its IP.
Eve questioned the timing of the announcement, which came just after the company set a record for quarterly bookings, and Eve president and CEO Luc Burgun said in a statement that his company will “vigorously defend our rights and show that our products do not infringe any patent owned by Mentor Graphics Corp. in Japan or anywhere else.” In its release, Eve said Mentor’s actions were an attempt to stall the continued success of ZeBu-Server.
There were no other comments or information available at press time.
The emulation market is dominated by Mentor, Cadence and Eve. Synopsys, while it has a huge stake on the fringe of the market in software prototyping, has so far not entered emulation directly. But as software prototyping and debugging requires massive processing power that emulation offers, this space may get even more crowded.
