Mentor Graphics is teaming up with TSMC to validate advanced functional verification technology using its Questa platform. Mentor also issued an advisory saying it expects revenues to increase 25% for fiscal Q1, ended April 30, compared with the same period in 2010. The company anticipates a GAAP loss of 2 cents to 6 cents a share driven by retirement of previous convertible debt. Non-GAAP earnings will be about 18 cents to 20 cents per share.
Bosch is using Cadence’s Virtuoso for its custom/analog flow and says it has achieved a 25% gain in productivity vs. a multivendor point tool approach it had used previously. Given the rising electronic in cars, this is a good thing.
Synopsys’ USB 3.0 xHCI host controller IP received USB-IF certification. That doesn’t actually make it safer to use–it wouldn’t have gotten the certification if there was a problem–but it does add market confidence.
eSilicon inked a deal with GN ReSound, which makes hearing aids, to manage the ASIC production for those devices.
