About chipdesignmag.com

chipdesignmag.com publishes practical guides and reference data for engineers designing, verifying and integrating ICs and SoCs: clock and power boundaries, block-to-system verification, IP integration evidence and reproducible tool handoffs. Each page answers one engineering question, gives a complete original example that was actually run, and records what was tested and what was not.

Independent and new

This is a new publication under new ownership. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or a continuation of any previous publication or operator at this domain, and no earlier articles, figures or files are republished. Some older addresses now lead to a new page on the same technical subject; that page is new work.

Examples are run, not just written

Every HDL example and script on this site is original, MIT licensed, and was compiled and executed as printed with open-source tools whose versions are recorded. A passing testbench shows the behaviour its checks cover in that simulator; it does not establish timing closure, metastability safety, power-aware implementation or silicon readiness, and the pages say so.

How pages are made

Pages are drafted with AI assistance from standards, tool documentation, project repositories and our own runs. Each page’s Tested box names the tools and date and lists what was not tested; a Checked box marks a documentation review. The methodology and editorial policy set out the rules.

Review

We are adding independent technical review by named verification and EDA engineers. When a page has been reviewed, the reviewer’s name, credential and review date appear at the top of it.

Code, data and sponsors

Code examples are original and MIT licensed. Our compilations and observations are licensed under CC BY 4.0; the tools, cores and documents they describe keep their own licences. Some pages may carry a clearly labelled sponsor module after the main content; sponsors never affect answers, examples, dataset rows or results. See disclosure.
